No connection on port 80 HTTP

M

Mark Eccleston

Since installing XP SP2, and having the computer running
for several hours I am unable to surf the web. I am able
to retrieve and send mail (SMTP POP3), post files (FTP),
and file share (various ports). Restarting the cable
modem, or the router does not solve the issue. The only
port that is affected seems to be 80 (HTTP). I can not
access the router admin on port 80, but I can on HTTPS,
which precludes it being an ISP problem. Software
firewalls have been disabled, renewing IP address, static
IP, and repairing the connection have all been tried. The
only thing that restores the connection is a reboot.

Hello Mark,

This is not an ISP problem or your Internet Connection or
a reboot fix. Reason being ... you mentioned you are on
the Internet and sending/receiving email.

Please check the following:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Settings
- Microsoft Internet Firewall Settings

If you would like to correspond further, I have created a
temporary email address you can contact me at:

(e-mail address removed)

Sincerely,

Craig McIntosh
