No communication between DNS servers in same domain

Have 2 DNS servers in same domain but different VLANS.
Each DNS server is also a DC. Both DNS servers are active
directory intergrated. I can ping all workstations and all
servers in each of the opposite VLANS except I am unable
to ping or attach to the DNS server in the other VLAN.

I have done ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns
on both DNS servers. I have cleared cache on both servers.
I have ensured the increment number between the two
servers is the same.

Why can't the two DNS servers respond to the others ping.
Why can't the two DNS servers attach to each other or
update each other?

When yo say you cannot ping the dns severs are you doing the ping by
name or by ip address?? Are there possibly some static routes
configured on one or either of the DNS servers?

Hello All,

I would start with the very basics. Perform a tracert from one server to
the other. This should test the routing between the two points as well as
ICMP traffic. If this succeeds and you still can not ping between the two
servers, take a netmon trace to see what's taking place on the wire.
