No Common Tasks pane in Fonts folder....was it ever there?

Hi all,

I just noticed there is no Common Tasks pane in my Fonts folder. Is that normal?

Yes. It is a very old namespace, from 95 (and dialogs in it are from 3.1).

If one takes a folder reference to it one gets a newer reference. EG programatic access you get a different thing to visual access. My PrintDetails script returns standard folder info for it (unlike other NSs). --

More Info:

It still has a desktop.ini file with the following contents:

[.ShellClassInfo]
UICLSID={BD84B380-8CA2-1069-AB1D-08000948F534}

The folder has the 'S' & 'R' attributes set.

Custom menu options ("Install Font", "List by Similarity", "Hide Variations") are still available.

It's old. Folder templates/taskpanes didn't exist. I'm not sure but I don't think my ME addin worked on fonts either.

I heard that all things are being updated.

According to MS noone uses the dialogs. Advanced users drag and novices never find the folder in the first place.

I am an advanced user and I have used the dialog. Its silly.
Oh at least they will update solitaire after 10 years of innovation.
