No com port in device manager

Hello,

I'm using Windows XP SP2 (fully patched) in combiantion of a Asus P5AD2
Premium mainboard. Recently I've installed a US Robotics PCI Modem and this
went without troubles, it installed perfectly on com 3. In the device manager
everything looks fine but when I click on the diagnostic button in the
property pane of the modem I get a Windows XP warning message that the modem
isn't attached to the selected com port.
And indead under the port section of the windows xp device manager there is
no com 3, only a legacy com port1 and a parallel port...

Does anyone has or had this same problem? and how do I get the com port 3
back into the port section?

With best regards,

Victor

A PCI modem card is assigned a COM port number but will not show under
Ports in device manager; this is normal.
If diagnostics can't talk to the modem, probably it is fried up :(

Get a replacement modem. Do not try to insert your card in another slot,
if it is fried, you can damage the other slot as well.

Pavel,

You're right, it was only the modem.. I switched it for a identical new one
and the problem is solved..
Thanks for the support..
