No Audio/Sound after upgrade of XP Home to XP Pro

S

Sir Fluke

I've recently upgraded a PC from XP Home to XP Pro and
only just noticed that when I try to run any of the multi-
media applications (for DVD, CD, WinAmp,DVD Burner, TV
Tuner, etc ), I get the following message: -

" Sound recorder cannot record or playback because a sound
device is not installed."

The PC is a Medion ConnectXL. The PC no longer has any
sound and has greyed out all access to the sound options,
and the windows volume control.

The properties of the sound, video and games controller in
the device manager Hardware all show that they are working
fine.

A visual internal inspection shows that the sound unit is
integrated with the motherboard and there is no visible
sign of damage.

Installing a new soundcard is not an option.

There's also no apparent security issues (virus, firewall,
remote access, etc). One other important piece of info
(maybe): -

The SYSTEM INFORMATION REPORT on the conflict/sharing
lists the below: -

Remove the sound card in Device Manager and then re-install it. This should
correct the sound.

Hello

Maybe you could try downloading a new sound driver if you
know the make of the sound device on your computer?
Also, try the motherboard's website since the sound
device was made right into the motherboard.
