No audio device

Hi, I don’t have any sound in my computer not even system sounds, when I go
to control panel – sound and audio devices – volume: “no audio deviceâ€,
cannot adjust the speaker volume or the sound string from there; but the
driver’s properties indicates that all is working properly. I’ve
updated/reinstalled the driver (Realtek AC’97 ) but nothing.
Could you help me please?

Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>(choice of three)
{Sound Recorder
{Volume Control
{Windows Media Player
Do you have these three there? If so, open Volume
Control>Options>Properties
(and tick all boxes) The Microphone should be the only one with "Mute"
ticked.
Go back & try a music CD. Good luck, Charo. (aka Rose)

When was the last time you had sound on your PC?
What have you installed/uninstalled since then? (reverse actions)
Have you (or any other) touched any wires in back of your PC? (put on
music cd...loud & reposition "sound" wires. You will HEAR when/if you
get the wires right)
Were the following three there when you looked?
{Sound Recorder
{Volume Control
{Windows Media Player
................and not "greyed-out"?
Do you have a sound card? C/W drivers? (re-install)
No sound card so drivers included in M'board cd? (re-install)
Finally, do NOT be sparing/stingey with words when replying ("I did it
but nothing.") as I am NOT charging you anything extra.......or
anything at ALL!
