NLB with Single Affinity - Redirecting Connections from failed Web Services

J

John

The scenario is 2 Windows Advanced Server hosts participating in an NLB
cluster with single affinity, to balance web traffic. When the IIS Services
are stopped on one host participating in the cluster, how does one arrange
for these "sticky" connections to be re-directed to the other host?

After stopping the services on one host, I close the client browser
originally sticking to this host, and reopened it. It did not get
re-directed to the other host.

Hi
Network Load Balancing (NLB) monitors cluster integrity using the
periodic exchange of heartbeats between cluster members. Heartbeat exchange
ensures the server is available on the network, but does not include any
checking at the port or application level. NLB does not have a built in
method of detecting when IIS is stopped. You need to use another
application for that )httpmon, What's Up Gold, etc).

Thanks,
