.NK2 not updating

I have a couple of users out of about 800 who are finding that they are
losing the contents of the .nk2 file over night. They can work all day and
auto-complete works, log off, log back in again, it remembers the frequent
contacts. Then the next day they come in log on and the frequent contacts
have all gone. There is still a .nk2 file but its empty. Any ideas why this
is happening or how I fix it. I've tried recreating the profile but it
doesn't fix it.

When they logon don't start Outlook but check the date of the nk2-file and
verify if it is indeed the latest. If it is rename it to .old to rebuild it
and see if it works now.

Roolee,

We wrote a white paper on the NK2 file for our customers. If you contact me
through our website at www.dcs-imaging.com with the e-mail address being
sales before the domain name, I'll be happy to send you what we know about
this file. We wrote a utility that can be found on our products page. You
are welcome to download a demo version of our Owtlook utility which is a
complete file editing utility for the NK2 file.

Anyway, it sounds like your problem may not be with the NK2 file. I'll
explain more when I send you the document.

I had a similar problem - the NK2 file was not being created. ie user goes to outlook creates address - send email then check adderess ok - exit outlook then it fails.

I resolved the problem by - in your case renaming NK2 file - then create a txt file called "outlook.nk2" go to outlook and create an address - send email -then check that the address comes up again - exit outlook
check whether the NK2 file size has increased - date changed etc.

Hello,

Reading this post has me a bit confused. First, what is the desktop version
of OL in question? What do you mean:

I resolved the problem by - in your case renaming NK2 file - then create a
txt file called "outlook.nk2" - What is meant by this? How do you create a
text file called outlook.nk2? It would be an NK2 file.

You may wish to review the following link:

Feel free to contact me at the above domain with the word sales then (at) in
front of it. I'll try to help if I can.
