NK2 and Outlook 2007

Adrian

Good morning,

I have accumulated a number of users on our domain whom have started having
issues with the autosuggesting a name upon sending an e-mail. It seems that
it tends to freeze for a few seconds when loading a list of names. I have
experienced it firsthand and I just used the simple solution of starting a
new .nk2 files, renaming my other to .bak. Rather than having to delete the
users .nk2 from their profile (likely using a script upon next login
session). Is there any other solution to optimizing the process? Some people
have favored using this feature and it doesn't make sense having to delete it
after so much time, or disabling the feature entirely.

Thanks.

We've discovered that Outlook frequently stops writing to or reading from
its NK2 file correctly after being in use for some time. So far, Microsoft
has not admitted to or addressed this issue, so the only solutions I know of
are third party ones:

Interesting how it's not an admitted issue. I hear about it happening almost
everyday. Since the number of people with the issue is low at this time I
think we'll stick with the deletion method. I do fear come when we finish
our upgrade schedule that quite a few will follow with the same issue.

I hear about it happening every day too. Does deleting the NK2 file actually
work for you? Most users have to create a new profile to get things working
again.

Either deleting or renaming, yes. since we are on W2k3/Exchange 2k3,
profiles are retained on the server. Has this issue accrued under Exchange
2007 at all?

No idea. I haven't heard and don't run against Exchange.
