NIC Problem

Hi,

I got a very weird problem, on my computer both onboard NIC just loose their
connection to the router. both light on the router are still on, but some how
there is no connection anymore, and the only way that I could make it work
again (short of rebooting everytime), is to go to the NETWORK CONNECTION window,
disable the NICs and then re-enable them, a repair will not work, nor will
IPCONFIG /RELEASE and IPCONFIG /RENEW

How can I fix this

Hey- You may want to double check with your ISP, because I had the same
problem, only to find out my router wasn't set up correctly. I had to change
my router setting from auto, to handling PPPoE. No more problems after that.
Good luck.

The problem is, when I loose the connection, I can no longer connect to either
computer on my network from this computer, but my portable, which use the
wireless part of the router, is still working perfectly and connecting to the
Internet as well as the other computer on the network

So, I don't really think that is a problem with the router, but somehow the
connection or NIC

do you use DHCP? If so what is the lease time set to? This is likely set
in the router. This would be where the router gives the pc an IP address
and the IP expires at the lease time.

Yes, I do use DHCP, and as suggested, I checked for the lease time ,and it was
set to 1 week, and I reseted it back to 1 week just to make sure

But, why if I use DHCP does it do that with just one computer and not the whole
network ????

I loose the network on one copmuter only all the others (2 computer) are working
normally

You might want to check your power management...
device manager > network adaptor > power management >
[ ] Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power.
