I have a Realtek based NIC card and lost the card from my hardware. I booted
the system one day and the OS came up with the ‘New Hardware Found’ dialogue
box. I tried to install the driver again with no success. I went to
Realtek’s website and downloaded the latest driver. Then I went to Encore’s,
the card manufacturer, website, then to network-drivers.com. No driver
worked. I resorted to reinstalling the OS since I was thinking of doing this
anyways. [I download all updates as self install, just in case of situations
as this.] After updating the system (I removed the card during the OS
revamp) I installed the card and proceeded to install the driver from Realtek.
This happened every time: a message appears that the install was
unsuccessful because a file could not be found. The name of the file is not
given. Why is this happening?
I was thinking it has to due with the hardware computability problem. A
dialogue box appears during the install process warning of unknown
compatibility. There is a *.CAT file with an expired certificate with the
driver.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you,
