Newsgroup Spam

Is it just me or has spam to the newsgroup increased lately? I thought they
were able to keep it out better than this.

No, it isn't just you. MS outsourced the spam control and it shows. Now the
MS groups are like the rest of Usenet.

Who is "they"?
Who cares if it is 'they' - 'he' - 'it'
If other posts can be pulled out quickly, why not all this recent crXp?
But then as users what can we do about???
What are we doing about it?
Nothing, by the looks of it :-(

MS is currently very busy censoring people writing bad things about WGA,
and EULA and so they (MS) don't have time to censor anything to do with
lebanon and Bush/Blair bashing! this is the state of affairs in the
current global security situation!!

Hmmm, because this is Usenet? Go, read and learn grasshopper.

But then as users what can we do about???

Nothing! Just ignore it and don't do anything to encourage further spam,
such as actually following any links posted in a spam message.

Nothing, by the looks of it :-(

No, it isn't just you. MS outsourced the spam control and it shows.

The ONLY way to control spam is to stop allowing Windoze boxes from
accessing the Net. It is these compromised Windoze boxes - thanks to the
ineptitude of MickeyMouse that accounts for 80% of the spam on the Net.
Now
the MS groups are like the rest of Usenet.
And indeed they are, as I access them through Usenet. Don't you?

Hmmm - what's so special about Usenet - go where to read what, locust?

I expected negative vibes from you! So your advice is to sit back and do
nothing. I have never followed links in any spam and from a personal
standpoint, I know how to treat/deal with spam. I do not give it extra
exposure by reposting it, here or anywhere - I deal with it in the same way
as I do with the links you provide in your posts :) :).
I had hoped that collectively, a more pro-active attitude in these groups
might have been possible to deal with the spam.
Some have bothered to report some of this spam - shame a few more have not
appeared to have done so.
