New windows opening up *under* older windows

I have a habit of opening lots of IE windows when I'm surfing the net
(sometimes as many as 20-30). I've lately noticed that when I click on
a link that is supposed to open a new window, the page will open in one
of the existing, older windows already open.

Has anyone encountered this and know of a fix?

Thanks.

Hi Mike :)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

First, Yahoo installations have been known to cause this problem. If you
have Yahoo toolbar disable it, or if you have Yahoo Companion uninstall it.

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or others, disable
them. If you have any 3rd party software, popup or ad blockers, disable
them. With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will
allow a new window.

and...

Go to Tools>Internet Options> Advanced tab
UNcheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts"
Click Apply
Close IE and reopen then see if the problem still exists

Hi Jan ;-)

Sorry for the omission. I'm running XP SP2 and IE6.

I'll try out your advice. Thanks.

Mike
