Vista Home Premium already installed on new HP laptop. I am just beginning
to do my setup. first problem, I can't change the weather gadget for my
location. It is default on Redmond Wa [cute]. I would like to change it to
my area. I have tried right clicking the gadget, searching with zip code,
state & town and state. It doesn't change. How do I change the weather
location?

I typed my home town in and it was found okay. In the search results it
returned a number of places with the same name from around the world. I just
had to scroll through and find the right one. Did you try just your home
town with no state?

Right clicking and choosing "Options" should brng up a small panel
with radio buttons for Centigrade and Fahrenheit and a search box for
location. Putting in a town name or a zip code and then clicking the
find icon (very important!) in the search box should find possible
matches for what you entered. For me, searching for a 5-digit zip code
switches the gadget immediately to show weather for the appropriate
location. Putting in something less specific brings up a list of
possibilities. Clicking on one of these confirms it. One oddity: the
top choice on the list is highlighted, but you still have to click on
it to select it, if you press the OK button on the main panel without
doing anything else, the gadget's settting is not changed. Similarly,
if you just enter a location in the search box (but do not click the
find icon) and then press OK, nothing will happen.

I located my town by typing in only the town name and searching. I had to
scroll down the list with the side scroll bar instead of just mouse clicking
on it to highlight. I am using a notebook wireless MS 6000 mouse. Prehaps
there was a problem with the mouse communication. Anyway, it is working
now. Thanks. I will be back many times I am sure.

I am loving this Vista that is clean installed on the new HP laptop.
