Because my son constantly strayed into aresa of the computer he was not
allowed, I deleted his user account from our XP home. Many months later, I
reopened an accout for him but used a sloghtly different accout name. I
believe there are now two sets of files storred that are his. Anyway to
combine them into one user account on a mass scale? How do I find out for
sure if this is the case?

All my computer knowledge caome from XP for dummies. I understant little.
Sorry

If you did not delete the his files when you deleted your son's user
account, the files are still there. When you delete a user account, you
are asked if you wish to delete the files. If you chose "yes", the
files are gone.

Log in with an account with Administrator privileges (not Limited). Set
the computer to see all hidden files from the Control Panel Folder
Options applet, View tab. There are three boxes relating to hidden
files. Apply and OK out.

Now go to My Computer and double-click to open it. You will see a folder
called "Documents and Settings". Open that folder and you'll see all
the users on the system. If your sons previous files are on the system,
you'll see folders for him. Copy any data you want from there to his
new user account. When you are satisfied that you've got all the data,
you can delete those files.
