New to Newsgroups/Hotmail Accounts

If somebody just now created a Hotmail Account, will they be able to make
use of the newsgroups using outlook express?

This friend really wants to be able to use Outlook Express. With
Microsoft's (MSN) new policy, new accounts are no longer a pop3 type
account.

You don't need a MSN Hotmail account to access an NNTP server. Although it
is proper "netiquette" to supply a valid email address for NNTP posts, it
isn't expected any more. Most NNTP servers will accept
"(e-mail address removed)" as an email address in the "From:" field. Aside from
that, one only has to configure MS Outlook Express to access the NNTP
server; no email necessary.

Thanks, we will give it a try, but it may be next week. Sorry so it takes
so long but he fly's a lot and it is difficult to coordinate his schedule
with mine. When we can get together, I will give it a try.
