New Terminal Server Client :-(

1) I am now asked for username/password before connection
every time. Earlier for my internal servers I was only
asked AFTER connect (from the servers login box). Why
the extra login - when it is not used (I still have to
login at the servers login box as always)? How do I get
rid of this extra login that is not used for anything?

2) Earlier the desktop and login-box of the servers was
appearing after only 1-2 second. With the new version
it takes 10-20 seconds bafore anything is happening?!?

I'm seriuosly thinking about removing the update again.
Any points against that (when do I need the new client)?

The new client works well if your target is Server 2003, XP, Vista or
Longhorn Server in that the credentials. In those cases you bypass the
logon after the connection to the server is established as that happens
automatically based on the credentials entered in the RDC client. This
saves server resources in that it doesn't have t establish a full RD session
just in order to gather logon credentials.

However older servers (2000) don't seem to work with this so in those
instances I'm not sure you gain anything, and as you point out it means you
have to supply logon credentials twice. So if none of your servers support
the new authentication method that has been implemented then I see no reason
to upgrade to the new client.

Hi there,

This new client prompts for authentication prior to the usual prompt
for the server name/IP address. This seems to be in readiness for the
Vista operating system but I have found the process unecessary and
somewhat annoying for users.

I have therefore removed this Windows Update at our client sites
(KB925876) as it reverts back to the usual client.
