New spyware will not sweep.

Webroot Spy Sweeper software appears to be running and GUI indicates it is
sweeping. However it does not actually inspect any items. It ran all night
(10 hours+) and still did not inspect any items. The next day it caused an
error and a hangup on my computer. I have had a similar problem with Webroot
Window Washer so, I suspect something in my system. Is anyone here familiar
with anything like this?

Ask the makers of the applications in question? (Would likely be your best
bet.)
