Hi,

Is this good? I mean my system is doing fine but I would like a better
defragger than Windows' so any ideas?

Hi Marc--I'd say compared to Vista RC1's defragger ANYTHING'S better.
PerfectDisk has many many options and gives visual cues as to the
condition/progtress of of the defrag. It's superior to Vista's defrag.

I was letting Vista run defrag automatically from the task scheduler. I
installed Perfect Disk 8 and disabled the scheduled task (so it wouldn't
run in the future). Perfect Disk found literally 1000's of fragmented
files that Vista "fixed" earlier that morning. With no visual cues there
is no way to tell with the built in program...

Just downloaded PD now as I missed Disk Keeper when RC1 was released.
Do not like the lack of GUI with Vista's defrag. and know I will find the
same amount of files which were supposed to be scheduled to drefrag. I have
never used Perfect disc but hope the install will be fine with RC1

It's a pity RAXCO doesn't tell you that this release for Vista is only for
Intel and does not include 64bit processors.

I don't know where my post went but I wanted to make sure PD was ok to use as
when it prompts me to defrag on re-boot it seems to work but when booting
back inot Vista I have to select boot normally - I have reported this but was
unsure if I should use DK which is now ready for RC1 normally I use O&O.
PD reports/graphs before and after HD defrag are both the same yet it is
moving files - puzzle for me. DK on previous build showed the difference plus
O&O on my XP PC shows the difference but PD on Vista both graphs are equal
100% after defrag - even when the difference isn't shown.

I was going to uninstall but will hold this until they reply now I see it is
working for others with Vista.

I had the same problem and they sent me a registry edit to fix it.

Hopefully they will send a regedit to me too. Just checked my mail for this
but only have the auto reply from last night. I would really love to have PD
working properly as I am now worried about using it. I hope to get an actual
reply today otherwise I may have to uninstall and go back to DK which I used
pre-RC1.

Hi,

Not that this is central to this thread;but;
Command prompt defrag in Vista works now;has since 5472.
Works great too. free also; but no nice GUI is all

It installed easy and I ran a system files defrag with a reboot and then I
ran a hole disk from within vista and the display showed files all over the
place. PD moved all most all of the files to the top and put them in order by
useage. PD ran in much less time than Vista defrag. I like PD.
