New install WinXP Pro, IE OK Until last of hotfixes intalled

My boss has a Toshiba Satalite notebook. I cleared his machine a few weeks
back to reinsall. I formated and perfomed a normal install. IE works untill
the last series of hotfixes are downloaded and installed. Once that happens
you can not launch IE again. It asks if you want to save the dump file then
sends an error report to microsoft. Any ideas?? I actually reinstalled
several time that evening to narrow down when it stopped working. I also
installed Office 2003 but it did not seem to be atatched to that as much as
the updates.

I have noted that all erros appear to be related to the mshtml.dll.
