New HD configuration

I replaced my HD today in my older Dell computer with larger one and
installed XP. During the installation, the drive assignments somehow got
screwed up with the HD as the "H:" drive with the floppy, CD ROM, and a
Digital Media Reader (that reads 4 different memory sticks) as the other
drives ("A" though "G", there is no "B"). The only one that is correct is
the floppy drive which is the "A:" drive.

How can I make the HD the "C:" drive and have the other devices in the right
order (CD ROM as the "D:" and the media reader as the "E"-"H" drives? Do I
have to reinstall XP?

Reinstall XP except this time disconnect your card reader. Once
you have XP installed, turn off your computer, reconnect the
cables to your card reader and restart. XP should then
recognize your card reader, install the correct drivers and
assign the proper drive letters.

Good luck

Thanks. I think what happened is that the jumper settings for the Western
Digital drive I installed weren't correct. I've corrected that and am now
repairing my previous installation. The drive looks to be the "C:" drive as
it should be.
