new hard drive

I bought a new hard drive because the one i have doesn't
boot into windows I'm trying to use the new one as the
master and the old one as the slave. the problem is as
far as I can see is when I'm downloading windows, it
reboots without warning does this mean i need a new cd or
is the slave drive interferring with the download.
p.s.
I have the oem version of windows xp pro

Check with your OEM. Maybe your OEM-XP only installs on the original HDD or
other hardware.
Try to transfer XP from the old drive to the new drive using the new HDD
utilities - to the extent that it is legal to do so.
