New folder

This may seem like a silly question, but I can't figure it out on my
own...

In Windows XP Home-
I want to create a few folders in my Start Menu (Applications,
Utilities, Games, Misc, etc.) to keep things organized. When I try to
do that my new folder ends up in a folder already created...

I haven't been able to figure out where in the hierarchy to place my
new folder so it appears in the Start menu.

Ultimately I want about 5 or 6 folders to appear when I click on my
Start button. ANd everything else will be placed in these folders.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Go into Windows Explorer...
Documents & Settings|ALL USERS|START MENU, and create the directories there.
Right-click in the righthand pane, click NEW|FOLDER.

(Assuming you are not using user profiles)
Right click on the Start button, select Open All Users, then open the Programs folder.
In the folder that opens (Start Menu) organize your folders any way you wish (recommend
you leave the Startup, Administrative Tools, Games & Accessories folders alone).
