New email won't display in Outlook w/o clicking another folder.

New Email in Outlook won't display unless you click on another folder then
click back on the Inbox. The folder summary shows the count of new email but
the messages themselves don't show.

If using Exchange (you never mention WHAT you use for the mail server),
disable Exchange caching in Outlook.  Restart Outlook.

I am using POP mail. I have even run the outlook repair utility with
no luck.

I have the same problem with Outlook 2007. Using POP mail. Not exchange.
Among my 4 email accounts, a few emails do display on occassion. Not
consistently. I must click on another folder and then back to the inbox
folder to see the email messages listed.

Yes, I am. BitDefender. I did not have this problem with Outlook 2003 using
the same BitDefender. In fact, I had Outlook 2008 with BitDefender on an
older laptop until about a month ago and it worked fine. Since replacing my
laptop (with the same Vista and Office) a month ago, I have had this problem.
Go figure...

Thanks for taking an interest in this. Sounds like I'm not the only one
with the problem.

I have the exact same problem :-(. Did you ever find a solution?

I am using BitDefender as well. Perhaps THAT is causing our problem?

Actually, I'm NOT using BitDefender, I'm using NOD32. My guess is it has
something to do with using a PST file for my mail.

I had a similar issue and discovered that there was a bad email in my PST
file. I ended up copying all of my stored email to a new data file (PST) as
a test. This worked.

Then I started copying the email back half at a time and checking for the
problem. I had so many emails this proved to be a painful task and simply
created a new data file (PST) for just my read/saved email. – hope this helps

I have the same problem with my POP account. I am using Norton Internet
Security.

There must be a better way.
