Well, I guess everyone who bought PCs with DVD drives
are gonna have to buy new drives; and DVD players as well.
When will this nonesense stop? Do they really think people
will spend $90-$250 for a new DVD player if theirs works
just fine?

But people are dupes indeed. Anyone who wasted $ on Beta was forced to buy VHS
VCRs, then Laser disc players, then was forced to buy DVD players,
now this Blu-Ray comes out. It's $ into the pockets of those who want to
prevent copying of DVDs; but rest assured a way to hack their protection will
be found.
And ifcourse a new standard will once again be created.

Merry X-mas, AND DON'T BUY DVD PLAYERS OR PCs WITH THE OLD FORMAT!!!

Yes, a Blu-ray disc has enough capacity to hold a HDTV movie. BTW Blu-ray might not become the standard for HDTV because there is another competing format.
