New domain showing up

Browsing the network from a server or pc, after clicking entire network
there is another domain listed besides our own. We can browse and see
machine names but not access anything (yet). I'm wondering how this is
showing up? I suspect one of our laptops is wirelessly getting netbios
names? Any insights would be appreciated.

More than likely some machine out there on your subnet is registering that
name as either a workgroup name or a domain name. Wireless client could be
the culprit. Are you using WINS? If so, it can get that name from there too.
Check WINS.

btw- DNS has nothing to do with the Neighborhood. It's based on the Browser
service, which relies on NetBIOS.

It was a WINS entry which we deleted; this building hosts multiple
companies and our laptops are detecting their access points, so you
think those ap's are not configured right or is there a setting on our
side we can change? thanks Ace!

No, not really a setting. It was either an entry that hasn't yet been
scavenged, or a static entry that someone made that needs to be manually
deleted. Was it a static entry? It would say it is in one of the columns.
