new appointment for contact

Outlook 2007 doesn't seem to have the option to create a new appointment for
contact from the contacts view.
There used to be an 'Action' to create a new appointment with the open
contact which would then open a new appointment and attach the contact's
details.
Now the only option appears to be to send a meeting request... I don't want
to send anything!
There is only the option of 'New Appointment' that I can add to the quick
access bar.
Why have they taken this option away?

What happens if you open that contact and use the "meeting" button to create
a new meeting?
