Networking XP with 2000

Terry

I am on network whose computers uses Windows 2000. I want
to set up file sharing with a computer on the same system
using XP Home Edition. Windows 2000 cannot see/find the
workgroup in which the XP is located. Is there a way to
network an XP with a 2000 for folder and file sharing?

Thanks

I've written some web pages that should help you solve the problem:

Adding Windows XP to an Existing Network

Windows XP Network Troubleshooting
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/troubleshoot

Please pay particular attention to these sections:

1. Firewalls: Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection
Firewall on local area network connections -- it's for use only on a
direct modem connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all
other firewalls while troubleshooting.

2. Protocols: Use only one for File and Printer Sharing. If the
network needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing
from all but one of them.

3. NetBIOS over TCP/IP: If the network uses TCP/IP for File and
Printer Sharing, make sure that it's enabled on all computers.
