Networking XP Pro, XP Home, and Windows 98SE wierd prblems

brian

I have an existing network with 8 computers at home. Most are running
Win 2000 Pro, 2 on Win 98SE, 1 on XP Home, and 1 on XP Pro.
I just added the XP pro machine into the mix. Before adding the XP Pro
machine, everything worked great. File sharing across all computers,
printer sharing, etc. Now after adding the XP Pro machine, all
machines can see the XP Pro machine, and the XP Pro machine can see
all but 1, which is a Win 98SE machine, and happens to be my file
server.

All other machines can see and access the file server (Win 98SE). I
tried pinging the IP address of the file server from the XP Pro
machine, but no luck. I can ping all others from the XP Pro machine,
and have access to shared files on all machines but the file server.

I have DSL running into Linksys wireless router, and it plugs into a
24 port hub. All computers are wired at this point. Linksys is
providing DHCP for all machines, and DHCP stack is correct. I have
checked the network settings on the XP Home machine, and gone as far
as to setting the XP Pro machine up the same way, but no luck.

I have ruled out NIC, cabling, etc. Have checked permissions and
shares, and all are OK. No internet firewall. Have turned off virus
protection.

I tried everything my pinheaded brain can think of. Any help is
appreciated.
