Networking Problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two computers connected to a Linksys router/switch
which connects to the cable modem. My computer
frequently drops connectivity via software (IE, Outlook,
WM, AIM, newsreader). I can still ping out but I have to
log off and then back on again to be able to use the
software mentioned above. The other computer does not
have this problem.

does ipconfig /release and /renew solve the problem?

No. Tried that. Also tried enabling MTU in the router
and setting it to 1492 (it was long shot but I'm trying
anything).
