Networking problem

driver

My home network is: 2 wired PCs, mine runs XP Pro SP2, my wife's runs
XP Home SP2, 2 Centrino wireless laptops running XP Pro SP2, 1 spare
PC running WinME, wired to Netgear WGE 101 wireless bridge, all
connected to a Vigor 2600 router with a Netgear WG602 WAP attached.

All can connect to the internet, all can see the shared folders on all
the other PCs. All can open the shared folders on the other PCs except
that none can open the shared folders on my XP Pro PC.

My PC had Norton Personal Firewall but I have uninstalled that. It has
Windows Personal Firewall disabled.

I have tried it with Simple File Sharing enabled and disabled. I have
set up password protected administrator accounts on my PC for the
login accounts on the other PCs.
I have also tried the wireless PCs on a wired connection. All to no
avail !

Each WinXP PC that tries to open a shared folder/file on my PC gets
the message:
"\\xxxxx\shareddocs is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. contact the administrator of the server
to find out if you have acces permissions. Not enough server storage
is available to process this command."

My PC has 1GB DDRAM, 10GB free disk storage. Most of the others are
similar.
I assume the problem is not storage space but a setting of some kind.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Hi,

There're a few settings to play with before Windows XP responds very well on
a network. First, If file security is not a very big concern on your home
network then do this:
1. Click Start>>Run>>Then type secpol.msc then press the enter key. The MMC
for Security policies opens.Expand the Local Policies and select Security
options: Here, Change Policy 3, Limit local account..., to DISABLED.

Scroll Down to Network Access: Enable "Allow Anonymous SID/Name
translation", Disable "Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and
shares", Enable "Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous users".

Close the Secpol MMC. Run Network Setup Wizard again and reboot. Your XP
machine will be accessible.

Hope this helps.

The somewhat cryptic message "Not enough server storage is available to process
this command." is well known here. If this problem is related to your inability
to share files between two computers, the problem is with the computer sharing
the files (your computer).

This happened to me when I was setting up my music library to access it from
all PCs in the house. I solved it by removing all shares on the PC [that has
the folders you cannot connect to] and then remake them. I have been told
that you have to share the drive that contains the folders first but I am
sure that this not the case. After I did this, I was able to restore the
firewall and leave file sharing as 'simple' and everything still connects
fine.

Best of luck.

I have the same problem, any ideas anyone? Driver, have you downloaded the
SP2 patch available from Microsoft for networking issues in SP2? But don't
hold your breath, I downloaded it but still have the problem, although it
might work for you!
