Networking internet problems

Hi, there may be a really simple answer to this but here goes:

We've just bought a wireless modem and router (Linksys 802.11g) - I'm
connecting from a laptop with a wireless connection (802.11b, if that makes
any difference). Basically, I started out connecting with wireless, and had
huge problems keeping my connection - it kept disconnecting every few minutes
and now it just won't find the wireless connection at all.

Instead I've now connected to the router by Ethernet, and it started out
fine, but now it just connects for a few minutes and then seems to stop
working. The network details say that it's still connected, but I can't seem
to access the internet except for the first few minutes of connection (i.e.
it says it hasn't dropped the connection, but it won't let me open any
webpages)

I hope that's made vague sense - I've spoken to technical support at both
Acer and Linksys, but neither have said anything that works. Also, the other
two people on the network aren't having any connection problems at all.

Please help!

Are the other two people connecting wired or wirelessly? Are you
broadcasting the SSID and did you set encryption? If not, do so via the
router's configuration settings. Then match the SSID and encryption key
on your laptop and see if that makes a difference.
