cannot use my project DB. Access created a lock file and will not let me
open/compact/repair.

happened at school, copied the mdb and mailed to home and after i tried to
open the ldb file came back. I have since found a couple of utilities that
claim they can fix, but I only get a couple of querys and no tables. Probably
unfixable. It gave me an error when I closed it. Never opened again. Is it
possible that the network went down at that same second and caused the
problem. Or maybe one of the other students was attempting to copy my work
and had it open when I tried to save.

Possible.

and had it open when I tried to save.

Also possible.
