John B.
I have two computers networked on a wireless system. The desktop computer
has W2k Pro and a laptop that has WXP Home.
PROBLEM...
==========
The laptop can access the printer that is attached to the desktop, as well
as any shared files on the desktop computer, but my problem is the laptop
will not allow the desktop computer to access any shared files that are on
the laptop.
WHAT I'VE DONE...
=================
The desktop and laptop have their own names, and they belong to the same
workgroup. They both have ZoneAlarm firewall software, but I've disabled it
on both machines without any success to my situation.
Both computers appear to be configured with the same types of protocols.
The desktop can see the laptop on the network, but the desktop can't get
into the laptop. I can even ping the laptop from the desktop with success.
The laptop is password protected, but the laptop will not ask for a username
and password when I try to access it from the desktop like it does when the
laptop accesses the desktop.
I understand that WXP contains it's own type of crude firewall, but I can't
seem to locate it to see if I can disable it, or modify it where it will
allow another computer access.
Does anyone have any insight towards this WXP firewall and it's location, or
have any other suggestions as to why the WXP laptop will allow the W2k
desktop to see it, but not to access it?
Thanks in advance!
