Network Speed Problems

I have been using a 10mbps ethernet connection, and have
decided to go faster. I am using network cards that can
use a 100mbps speed. But when I tried to set them to go
at 100mbps, I got a message that said "A network cable is
unplugged." I checked the cables, and they are connected
correctly. Strangely, the LEDs on the network cards went
dark. But the LEDs on the hub were lit up, without
blinking at all. I think they didn't blink because I used
full duplex. But how can I get them to go at 100mbps?

Find out what that "hub" really is, by looking on the hub vendor's
website for that specific model. Some hubs are really switches
(which are better).

If you have a real hub, it won't run FDX and it may only run 10 Mb/s.

Sorry for the double post-

I was trying to say thanks, Bob.

I checked the Netgear website, and you were right.
My hub only supports 10mbps. I will think about
purchasing a switch.

You're welcome.

Switches are pretty cheap. But, if you are planning more network
capabilities in the future -- such as wireless or DSL/broadband -- then
getting a combo switch/router with, maybe, a wireless AP built-in
should be considered now.
