Network problem

This problem developed after installing SP2. I have 2 computers
sharing high speed internet through a Netgear router to a Motorola
modem.

One machine has XP with SP2. The other machine has ME The
LaserJet printer is hooked to the XP LPT1 port.

The XP computer sees the ME just fine.

The ME machine gets to email.
The ME machine gets to the internet.
The ME machine can ping the XP from a DOS prompt.
The ME cannot print. I removed the printer from the ME machine
and tried to install a new printer.

When it browses for the "network" printer it asks for a password
to reach the //xxx/ipc$ When I ask it to explore network
places, it says I do not have access. I have given it every
password that I know or have used to no avail.

Any help?
