Network password problem

I am trying to network three computers at work running Win 98 in order to
get ADSL connected all round, replacing a crappy dial up service, but am
unable to log on as the network passwords are unknown. The passwords were
put in some years ago by long forgotten employees in 2 of the PCs whilst the
3rd was put in by a current employee who swears he has never used a
password.

I would like to have them log on automatically but still need a password to
change the settings to enable this. Does anyone have a suggestion to get
around this.

From my shaky memories of Win98 you can just create a new user at the log in
screen. Enter the name and password of your choice and press enter. To avoid
logging on pressing the ESC key will bypass that - but this will not allow
any network connectivity.

Then make sure they all belong to the same workgroup (control
panel/networks/identification).

Good luck and hth
