Network only goes in one direction!

I have 2 XP computers (desktop and laptop) that I want to share files
between - the desktop will recognize the laptop (in "View Workgroup
Computers") and pick up files from a shared folder, but the laptop
refuses to see any files on the desktop, and it won't even connect to
the workgroup. It's worked in the past, but now the error is:

"Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permissions. The specified network name is
no longer available."

They're both wireless, connecting through a router and cable modem. As
far as I can tell, the settings are identical. I do have the desktop's
share folder set to "Share" and the error persists even with firewalls
disabled.
