the error it gives is: "Windows cannot create a network map for the selected
type of network connection."

i reformatted and reinstalled vista ultimate yesterday after a driver snafu.
i did nothing different during the install, yet now, i cannot view the map.
it was working perfectly before i reformatted, showing my gf's lappy and
router.

i have the protocals checked, protocal installed on lappy, private net,
discovery on, the works. i still can't get it to work for some reason.

OK, can you net view remote computer? To do that, use net view \\remotepcipaddress. post back with the system error.
