Network issue

I have three computers networked

Laptop : This computer connects to the internet & runs Windows XP Pro.

Computer 1 running dual boot 98se & XP Pro networked and connecting to the
internet using ics via the laptop. This is the computer with the issues.

Computer 2 running 98se networked and connecting to the internet using ics
via the laptop.

The issue is that when running XP on computer 1 the network the network
cannot be seen by it and it cannot be seen by Computer 2 when the laptop is
disconnected from the network and used elsewhere. This happens after computer
is rebooted & the laptop is disconnected and not on the network.
I've noticed that under network connections on computer 1 the icon for the
internet gateway called "laptop" disappears after a reboot and comes back
(and the network) after running a local area connection repair.
In short the network on computer 1 running Xp works ok as long as the laptop
is connected to the network also.
Everything on computer 1 works ok when it's running 98.

Lindsay,

If you have a network with one computer running Windows 98, and a second
computer running Windows 98 or XP alternately, and you have trouble with Network
Neighborhood when the second computer is running XP, then you have a browser
conflict. The browser under Windows 98 and XP don't play well together.

Thanks Chuck. I'll try that.
I'm not sure if that's the same problem I'm having though. The laptop (the
gateway) connecting to the internet runs XP. The computer with the issue
runs XP. (with dual boot to 98 in the second disk. In 98 it works ok with
the laptop. Also the third computer running 98 works ok with the laptop. The
issue is XP to XP computer to laptop. This problem happens also when not on
the internet.
