Network ID wizard disabled

Have a Windows XP system where the Network Identification Wizard is disabled.
Wanted to move this computer from a workgroup to a domain, but the domain
radio button will not respond and I can not get this computer over to a
domain via the Network Identification Setup Control Panel. Any ideas?
Appreicate any suggestions. Thought it would be something (service?) that
needs to be enabled.

Are you logged on with an account with sufficient rights to join a domain?
I'd suggest using the local Administrator account.

Yes, logged in as Administrator and with Administrator rights (in the
Administrators group). This machine I just imaged with Windows XP Media
Center. Could this be related to "Media Center"?

Thanks Chuck,

I thought that might be it, but when I checked the properties of the OS it
said it was a 2002 version. Could MCE 2002 share this same issue with MCE
2005?

Chris,

According to the article, MCE 2002 should have no problem.

In earlier versions of Media Center, a scenario where you join your computer to
a domain is supported.

Could your system have been upgraded? What exactly shows in System Properties
under System?

Hi, I've been having the same problem with MCE 2002--while the KB says you
can join a domain, the Network ID button is disabled, and nothing I've been
able to tweak changes that. I'm reduced to trying to compare registry entries
relating to network ID and domain to find an actionable difference.
Anyone have hands-on experience on successfully adding an MCE 2002 machine
to a domain?

Inquisitively,
Steve
