Network files deleting, but still showing up in Vista

I have a mapped network drive in a 3 computer environment, with one
computer running Windows Vista Ultimate and the other two with Windows
XP Pro. If I delete a file, either from the Vista or the XP machines,
it still shows up in the mapped drive on the Vista PC, but it won't
open and when I try to delete it again I get this error message:
"Could not find this item. This is no longer located in Y:\. Verify
the location and try again. Is there any way that I can eliminate this
error from happening? Thanks.

I think this happens because the entry isn't deleted from the search
index. I had the same issue but the file names went away when I manually
reindexed.

click start..type indexing options
click on the option, then click advanced, continue to the pop up, in
index settings under troubleshooting click rebuild.
