Network connections service failed to start.

After a brute force shutdown of a W2K server SP4, the
Network connection service are not able to start.
Have checked every MS technote on this subject, with no
luck.
Due to the failed start I'm not able to see any network
interface in properties. Nor manage network interfaces.
