network connection under different user

Comcast came to my apt to set up the internet. I have two accounts in the
computer. The one they used to install the service does have the internet
connection. The other one cann't connect to the http. It does connect to the
internet when using SSH or pine.

Comcast is DSL or cable? I don't know....if it's ADSL, does it require a
login/password (PPPoE)? Can you ping your public DNS servers by IP address?
Can you ping (resolve) something like www.google.com ?

For what it's worth, I never let anyone touch a computer when they're
setting up Internet connectivity - I'll do it myself. You don't generally
need any of their software crap.
