Network Connection Protocol

I am upgrading my mother's computer from ME to XP. I ran a compatiblity
check, and this is the report that I got.

The following issues might require you to obtain files from Microsoft
Windows Update Web site or a manufacturer's Web site. You can still
continue to upgrade to Windows XP without resolving these issues, but
some hardware or software might not work. Follow the recommendations
in each section.

Settings That Will Not Be Upgraded
----------------------------------
Some of your settings will not be upgraded, because they aren't
applicable in Windows XP.

Network Connection Protocol
NetBEUI

Support for the NETBEUI protocol is not available in Windows XP.
For networks using NETBEUI, install TCP/IP on all machines or
devices to maintain network connectivity.

Now here's where I get confused....when I look in her network in the control
panel, there are 5 different TCP/IP option on there. They are as follows:
TCP/IP 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible)
TCP/IP AOL Adapter
TCP/IP AOL Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN Support)

My question is this, is it ok to upgrade to XP, or is there something I need
to do before I can upgrade.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there an entry for NetBEUI in the network control panel?

If not, there's no problem. Go ahead with the upgrade.

If so, remove NetBEUI and perform the upgrade. Then see if all
network functions work. I think they will, because Internet access
doesn't use NetBEUI. NetBEUI would only be used to communicate with
other computers on your local area network.

If you have a LAN that uses NetBEUI, either convert all computers to
using TCP/IP, or install NetBEUI on XP, as shown here:

No, there is nothing like that, so I will start the upgrade. Thanks so much
for your help :)
