I have recently performed a system recovery and ever since that i have had an
icon in my system tray saying that my local area connection has a network
cable unplugged???? I can still access the internet but this is really
starting to annoy me now. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

For all "Enabled" Network Interface Cards, you'll have an associated
Local Area Network. Many times a PC will have both a standard NIC
and also a Firewire based Network.

Open Network Connections and note the number of LACs shown. The
one that indicates a Cable disconnected will be shown in a slightly
diminished color.

You can either Disabled unused hardware or simply re-configure the
LAC to not show Icon status in the System Tray, by modifying the
Properties for the LAC.

1. To work around this problem, use either of the following methods: • Open
Network Connections, and then click Refresh on the View menu.

Note To open Network Connections, click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl in
the Open box, and then click OK.
• Press the F5 key.

2. Update the network card driver
