Network browsing across W2K router-to-router VPN doesn't work!

Howdy all -

This is killing me! I have a W2K DC in my city, and another one at a
remote location.

Each is absolutely up to date on service packs and hotfixes.

Each has two NICs, one attached to a cable modem, the other on the
internal LAN at each office.

Each is configured as a NAT server so the internal PCs can get to the
Internet.

Each has a demand-dial connection using PPTP to the other server, and
the connection is set as persistent on both ends.

Each is running WINS, and is a replication partner with the other
server.

Via My Network Places, the LAN in my city can see only computers in my
city, and the LAN in the remote location can only see computers in the
remote location. However, using UNCs, each network can access the
hosts at the other location.

Each WINS server shows registrations from every computer on the
network. The local WINS server has registrations for all the
computers at the remote location and vice versa.

No NetBIOS scopes are defined.

I am at my wit's end - what else can I do to make all the computers
show up in My Network Places? The customer is about to kick my butt!
Any pointers GREATLY appreciated.

You will probably need to use the browstat utility from the support
tools to see what the browser service is doing. Do you have at least one
domain set up? Only a PDC has the ability to merge browse lists.

If you have a PDC, it should produce a merged browse list and send the
merged list back to the segment master browsers. Check that you have not
disabled anonymous access to the IPC$ share of any master browsers.
