Network Adapter Speed Properties

I just bought a new Gateway Quad Core computer with an ethernet adapter on
board. I have Windows Vista Home Edition installed. How can I check how
fast the network is? This migration to Windows Vista is driving me crazy.
It's so different.

To see the rated speed of the Ethernet adapter's network connection:

1. Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
2. Click "Manage network connections".
3. Click the Local Area Connection.
