Netscv or svc in Windows 2000

I would like to know what do i have to do to be able to
remotely start or stop an NT service from the dos prompt.

I am aware of the netsvc option in NT 4.0 but i am not
able to run the same option on Windows 2000

any comments are appraciated

Try the freeware "PsService.exe" which is part of the "PsTools" package
from sysinternals.
