Netman service hanging on startup

Hi,

I have been having a problem with a win2k server. On boot the Netman service remains in a 'starting' state for 15 minutes, during this time the Network connections dialogue box is empty. Have checked IP settings, the server is a DC and GC with all FSMO roles. The server was running SP3 and has had SP4 installed in an effort to resolve this problem. We have searched the Internet and newsgroups and have been unable to find a solution.

The following gets added to the event log 15 minutes after boot:

Event ID: 7011
Description: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the Netman service.

Event ID: 7000
Description: The Network Connections service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Event ID: 10005
Description: DCOM got error "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{BA126AD1-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}

Any help would be gratefully received.

I am having the same issue...just started today, I have rebooted the server multiple times with no success getting rid of the error. As a footnote, it is also my Exchange 2000 Server and inbounf email is not getting through.

Thanks

Same problems here!

NetMan is the 'service' that displays your network connections when you get
properties on 'my network places'. This doest help solve the problem but I'm
here at the moment trying to make it work on a server at the mo - the one in
question is a W2k SBS server patched to the hilt (ive just sat through ms
update!)

Its driving me nuts!

Any Updates on this??

Our customer still has problems with this service not working (its defiantly
tied into 'network connections' service) - even to the extent that any
service accounts that log onto the server (ok its been tested with an IIS
process) will time out due to network connections (netman) not starting in a
timely manor.

It can take about 15 mins to finally get this thing to kick in (after
constant trying)

It /MAY/ be tied into workstation logons taking several attempts before the
eventually connect (xp pro)

any MS people out there willing to comment?
